|Computer manufacturer HP today announced that some of its notebooks may contain faulty and potentially dangerous batteries. HP asks owners to contact Customer Service immediately for a replacement battery. The news comes at the end of a catastrophic week for computer manufacturers.
This HP laptop news is up-to-date with Specter and Meltdown processor issues - security risks that affect virtually all modern computing devices. In a statement released on Friday afternoon , HP announced that a selection of its laptops manufactured between 2015 and 2017 was affected by a battery failure that posed a potential fire risk. HP recommends that laptop owners immediately check if their model is among the affected models.
Is my computer affected? HP has uncovered a list of the models affected by the problem.
HP ZBook 17 G3, HP ZBook 17 G4, HP ZBook Studio G3
HP Pavilion x360
HP ProBook 640 G2, HP ProBook 640 G3, HP ProBook 645 G2, HP ProBook 645 G3, HP ProBook 650 G2
HP Battery Scan Tool available:
Although these are the areas HP has identified as a potential battery issue, not all of HP's many laptop models are affected. To check if your laptop is one of the unlucky ones, HP has provided a downloadable tool on its website that scans your computer and detects if the rogue battery is present.
If you are an HP laptop owner, you can run the laptop scanner here. If the tool diagnoses your laptop as faulty, it activates a battery safety mode that virtually renders the battery unusable and allows only the notebook to be powered on. While this should reduce the likelihood of damage, you still need to contact HP for a replacement battery, If you are not sure whether your laptop is one of the above, contact HP Customer Care on 0207 660 0596 for assistance.
What happens to my HP laptop?
If your laptop is one of the affected models, HP will replace the battery for no charge. Make sure you contact HP directly to handle this callback. Do not bring your laptop to a repair shop as the battery cannot be replaced by the user. In addition, you will not receive the same service that you would receive from the official recall program. You may also be charged a fee. Once you have contacted HP, a technician will contact you to arrange an appointment to replace the battery in your own home.
HP states that customers can expect to receive a response within three to five business days of contacting them. We have recently learned that batteries provided by one of our suppliers for certain notebook computers and mobile workstations present a potential security risk. We take immediate action to address this issue, including a voluntary recall and replacement of batteries. This action affects approximately 0.1 percent of HP systems sold worldwide in the last two years.

Ever wished you could see the whole world? Go on a world tour and explore the beauty of the planet? If you have been planning a trip somewhere but cannot decide the destination, then let me be of assistance. If you are looking for a place that is rich in history, with beautiful architecture and museums that have amazing collections of art then Madrid is the place to go.
If you are an art lover then Madrid will be heaven for you. The city has not one or two but several museums that are the homes of prominent artists. Make sure you do not rush your trip, or else you will miss so many things.
Those of you who are into modern and contemporary art must visit the Reina Sofia museum of Madrid. One interesting fact about this place is that during the 18th century it used to be a hospital. The old hospital was renovated and converted into a gorgeous museum in the early 1990s. The official name of the museum is Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. The main attraction of the museum is the famous painting, "Guernica" by Picasso. The museum is also the home to ?woman in blue,? another masterpiece by Picasso.
The museum does not only have a collection of magnificent art, it also has a library that specializes in art of the 20th century. If you wish to do some reading then you can spend a good amount of time in the library.
For those of you who are big fans of impressionism, Sorolla museum is the place to be. This museum is named after Joaqin Sorolla and it is his studio that has been converted into a museum. The building was built in 1910 and no changes have been made to the original structure. Another interesting fact about the museum is that the last canvas Sorolla was working on before he died has been kept intact in the same place where the artist left it, along with the paint brushes.
Book lovers and knowledge seekers will have the time of their lives in the national library of Spain. The building is also known as the Palacio de Bibliotecas y Museos in Calle Serrano. The library is the home of several million books, and an archive with more than 20,000 newspapers. Other than that, you will find some of Spain?s most important drawings and more than 2 million pictures. Where else will you find a museum so rich with history? I believe there is no point in missing this chance of a lifetime to see such spectacular artifacts. Do not procrastinate, because adventure awaits you.
